It is so good to be with you and to study God's word with you this morning.

I'm going to ask you to turn with me to Luke chapter one in your Bibles.

Luke chapter one.

And that is the third book in the New Testament, Matthew Mark and then Luke.

And we'll be in the first chapter this morning.

And this morning we're going to do a character study on Mary and look at her

life prior to the birth of Jesus. And the title of our time together this morning is lessons

from a teenager. Now all the teenagers in the house this morning are like, it is about time

that people are learning from us teenagers.

But really, that's most likely what Mary was at the time of our text.

Most Christian historians speculate that she was around 15 to 16 years old at the time

of Jesus' birth, and according to Jewish custom, a Jewish woman could be betrothed

to be married even as young as 12 to 13 years of age. Now, the consummation of the marriage

and being physically intimate wouldn't happen for months or even years later, but it's safe to

assume that Mary is most likely a teenager at the time of our text.

And this morning there are three important lessons.

I believe we can learn from Mary's life that I believe the Lord would like me to share with us this morning.

But let's first pause and pray and ask the Lord to be with us in our Bible study.

Lord, we thank you so much for this time and we just, we worship you, we praise you, we

commit this time to you, God. Do with it whatever you will by your Holy Spirit through the

power of your word. Convict us where we need conviction. Rebuk us where we need

rebuke, encourage us where we need encouragement, comfort
