0:00.0 | Day 65 of the heartbeat of God. I'm your Bible study friend Kanoi. Welcome to the Heart Dive |
0:04.1 | podcast. Welcome back to Bible study friends. Today we are in Numbers chapters 26 and 27. |
0:17.6 | Hope you're having a wonderful day wherever you are in the world. In fact, if you are new to this Bible study, please let us know where you are watching from in the world. And we also want to remind you that we do have a phase one of our Bible study. You can find the playlist right here where we went through the entire Bible verse by verse, giving you a good foundation and understanding of what took place, what was happening. We gave you some heart check questions. And I always recommend doing that phase one before you come here to phase two looking for the heartbeat of God. I feel like it's a better flow. Those who have done it that way, for the most part, agree. But you are welcome to stay here if you want to just to check it out. If you're part of the hard die family, though, if you could please hit your roll call button, that would be greatly appreciated. So let's go ahead and pray, jump on in to God's word. Heavenly Father, thank you for this day. Thank you for your word. We love you. We just ask that you speak to our hearts today. Holy Spirit, move through your word. Breathe upon it, Lord, let us see things that we've never seen before. |
1:11.7 | Will you use my voice as a vehicle to speak to your people today? |
1:15.0 | Forgive us for our sins, please cleanse our hearts, and allow this time to be one that is |
1:18.6 | sacred before you. |
1:19.5 | We love you, in Jesus' name, amen. So in Chapter 26, we are seeing a census taken of the new generation that will be entering into the promised land. Now keeping in mind, |
1:45.5 | this is all taking place after that whole debacle of the bail worship at Peor. So this is kind of |
1:51.5 | like a new beginning that we are seeing for this new generation. So we start off here in verse one. |
1:56.9 | After the plague. So that's that new beginning. The Lord said to Moses and to Eleazar, the son of Aaron the priest, |
2:03.6 | take a census of all the congregation of the people of Israel from 20 years old and upward by their |
2:08.5 | father's houses, all in Israel who are able to go to war. So what mercy, right, from God, |
2:15.0 | who is continuing to speak to his people, to guide them even after |
2:19.9 | that moment of judgment that they rightfully deserved. |
2:23.4 | And despite the failures of God's people, he's always going to be faithful to his promises. |
2:29.1 | And in calling for the census, what he's calling for is a restoration of order in the community among the people, but also to |
2:36.8 | prepare them so that they are ready. You know, before they step into this new territory of the |
2:41.6 | promised land, this is practical preparation. Make sure you number your army. Make sure you've got your |
2:47.2 | people ready. But then it is also to preserve their identity because once they |
2:51.5 | get to the promised land, well, they're going to have to stake their claim in the different parts of the |
2:56.2 | land. And so this is what this census is doing, giving them a footprint of the stamps that would be |
3:02.9 | put down in those different territories. Now, God desires for every single family in his nation to be able to |
