Upscale Chevy Chase, MD does not see a lot of violent crime. But that changed in 2001, when loving wife and mom Leslie Preer was beaten to death in her own home in a shocking crime. Investigators could find no motive for the murder, but certain aspects of the crime scene directed investigators' attention to Leslie's husband as the prime suspect. After all, it was very unlikely that a stranger had broken into the house, killed Leslie, and attempted a clean-up. But they could not pin the crime on Carl Preer, and the case stalled. Not until the Montgomery County PD cold case unit embraced IGG did they find a name of a suspect – one who had been under their noses the whole time.

1:24.4	39-year-old Brett Reedy called 911 and was put through to the Montgomery County
1:28.4	Maryland Police Department at 1147 a.m. on Wednesday, May 2nd. He reported what was termed by
1:34.7	dispatch a suspicious situation. But let's back up. The 911 caller, Brett, was a supervisor at
1:41.5	Specialties Inc. on Wisconsin Avenue in Chevy Chase, Maryland. His employee,
1:46.0	49-year-old Leslie Prier, had not come into work at 10 a.m. Leslie was responsible and prompt
1:51.7	and always arrived on time, so when she failed to show up or call in, Brett was concerned. Calls to
1:57.7	Leslie's home by his office assistant when unanswered. So at about 11.15, with Leslie being over an hour late, Brett called her next-of-kin,
2:05.6	her husband, 50-year-old Carl Eugene Prier, at his workplace.
2:10.3	Carl knew of no reason why Leslie would not have gone to work, and he immediately became concerned
2:14.8	when he, too, tried Leslie at their home, and she didn't answer.
2:18.7	Carl told Brett he would drive home and check on her as his workplace was within a few miles of his home.
2:23.9	Brett offered to go with him, and Carl said, there's no need.
2:28.3	Brett decided to go over there anyway. He had driven Leslie home a bunch of times,
