Leonie uses different storytelling approaches to wander through the often unmapped terrain faced by all of us as we find ways to live together on an ever more tightly packed planet: climate, energy, environmental change, and hunger and malnutrition in the world of Big Food. Mostly, her stories try to give voice to a silenced environment, and the social injustices of a society where the divide between rich and poor has never been greater.

She has spent the better part of 15 years exploring these topics through books, journalism, communication's support to academics and civil society organisations, and non-fiction creative writing.

0:30.5	environmental issues for last, I think she might have said, 20 years. So really engaged in that
0:36.3	subject, which is great, close
0:37.8	movement to my heart as well. And yeah, so she got involved in hearing about psychedelics and
0:45.4	started becoming a psychedelic writer and activist in South Africa. And we think this is an interesting
0:50.5	perspective for our listeners to check out. So even in, you know, non-U.S. or Western
0:57.4	Europe countries, you can still make an impact and make a big difference. One major thing I saw
1:03.6	is that Dr. David Nutt was hired as a consultant by the South African government to consult
1:08.9	on drug harms and rehabilitating their drug penalty
1:13.4	or scheduling system or however you want to call it.
1:16.5	So this is a great episode.
1:17.6	Kyle and I have a great time talking to Leonie and really want to talk to her again.
