I wore this shirt at a conference in Southern California and ran into Bill Walton and Bill commented on the shirt and was wondering where the hell I got it and why I was wearing it.

And then went into a story about how he met Mark Eaton 7-4 working as a mechanic in town and talked to Coach Wooden about him getting a

scholarship to UCLA. And Mark went on to have a nice long career in the NBA. I'm a fan of

semi-obscure 80s and 90s basketball players as my friends know and my buddy Ryan got me the shirt.

That was back at a time when I watched a lot of basketball, consumed a lot of the NBA.

The Michael Jordan, Larry Bird, Magic Johnson era, and it was Mark Eaton, all seven foot four of them on the Utah Jazz.

You know how the Utah Jazz came to be?

They were the New Orleans Jazz, which made sense.

Of course.

Perfect sense. Right. Then they moved to Utah, and they just never changed

their name. They just, and Utah, they play jazz in Utah too, apparently somewhere. Yeah,

on a basketball court, and that's about it. Good morning, Chris. How are you? I'm doing good, man. Yeah,

I remember Mark Eden. And oddly enough, then you bring up Michael Jordan and all that. I think there's that old clip, too, of, like, him dunking over Mark Eaton and, like, talking to the jazz sideline about it, like, because Jordan had dunked on a smaller player and everybody was getting on him. And then he dunked on somebody like Mark Eaton, who was seven feet. And like is he tall enough uh you know when you grow up in my age at my in my you know era

who any obscure player that was like your favorite back in the day that, you know,

is that a mainstream name?

Well, I remember some of the guys that never really resonated nationally.

Right.

I have no staying power.

One guy that I loved was Michael Cooper from the Showtime Lakers.
