Well, I wanted to open this segment with a bit of a story for everyone. A story full of drama,

passion, reason at its highest, that is the story of the world's largest social science conference and professional association the American political science

Association

So we for our sins dear listeners since the late 70s have been going and holding panels at the American

Political Science Association's annual meeting.

Its noble work, we're sort of this oasis for serious political philosophy and consideration of America

amidst normal run-of-the-mill and increasingly woke social science these days, which is often either very quantitative and abstruse because of partly because of that, you know,

you know, primary voting patterns amongst Democrats in New Hampshire in 1997 you know that kind of stuff

very narrow questions that can be proved quote unquote using quantitative methods. Or what's increasingly sort of ethnographic, very postmodern stuff, you know, about sort of transing video games you know the the role of trans identities in the

video gaming community etc etc a lot of the research scare quotes of which consists of someone playing video games while being

trans or etc. I mean I'm being a little extreme without example but it's not that far off.
