Summary

Dan and Nick dive into the draft profile of Wisconsin LB Leo Chenal. Dan waxes poetic, as expected, but also offers up some interesting ways he can immediately impact the Giants defense as both a run defender (solving issues that have plagued the run defense since 2020) and as a pass rusher in Wink Martindale's defense. Chenal is a cookie-cutter fit for Martindale's system, but he also has issues moving laterally in pass coverage and plays a position that is not coveted in the draft. Is that enough to make him an option at No. 36 overall? A target? Dan and Nick break down that and more. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices

We are doing the NFL draft profile of Leo Cheno linebacker out of Wisconsin University. Some might call it linebacker you. I had one of you trolls. Now, you're not a troll. You're a nice guy. We've had some great conversation on Twitter. But I had one of you come at me and say, it's not linebacker, you. What about Zach Bonn? Well, for every Zach Bond, there's an Andrew Van Ginkle. And for every Van Ginkle, there is a Leo Chanel who has more upside than any linebacker, I think, to come out of Wisconsin since T.J. Watt, not the same position, not the same player as T.J. Watt, obviously. T.J. Watt is maybe the best defensive player not named Aaron Donald in football, some might say. But I love the upside of Leo Channol, and I've been on the Leo Channal train for a long time now as a Badger fan. And it's been fun to watch this ride because guess what? As we're going to hear about shortly, Nick Falado's on the train too. And as some of you know who listened to Talking Giants,

Bobby Skinner on that train as well. A lot of people originally like, oh, maybe this guy's a third

rounder. And I was saying, you know what? I'll take him at 36 overall because I really feel like

1:57.7

not only can he be one of the best 36 players in this class, he can be an unbelievable and immediate fit for this Giants defense under Wink Barndale. He is literally the cookie cutter perfect fit for this defense. So before we get into, for you, let me just spew it because I could go 15 minutes straight in this intro, just talking about Leo Chanel, who's not without some warts, which we'll get to.

2:14.9

But before we do any of that, Nick Falado, how are you doing today, my friend? What's going on? Dude, that one-five, five, ten-yard split for Leo Chanel. No, I'm doing good, man. I do like this kid a lot. But I was going to say, man, I think the Giants going to take Tray McBride over him.

2:16.0

Yeah.

2:17.0

And that's the point.

2:18.3

That's kind of my point in the last podcast.
