Hey, good morning. My name is Philip Townsend.

And during the season of Lent, we're reflecting on the miracles of Jesus throughout the gospel accounts.

And we'll see how each one of these miracles points us to the greatest miracle of all, the resurrection of Jesus Christ, from the dead.

The miracle of Jesus will be focused on today as found in Luke 23 as Jesus is led from his trial to his

execution. In this account, I want to show you the miracle of Jesus taking your place. This is also known as

substitutionary atonement, and it simply means this.

Jesus went to the cross so that you and I could walk free.

So let's begin together.

I'll start in verse one.

Then the whole company of them, that is the religious leaders, arose and brought Jesus before Pilate,

and they began to accuse him, saying, we found this man misleading our nation and forbidding us

to give tribute to Caesar, and saying that he himself is Christ a king. And Pilate asked him,

are you the king of the Jews? And he answered him, you have said so.

Then Pilate said to the chief priests and the crowds, I find no guilt in this man. But they were

urgent saying, he stirs up the people, teaching throughout all Judea, from Galilee even to this

place. Then in verse 13,

Pilate then called together the chief priests and the rulers and the people and said to them,

You brought me this man as one who was misleading the people. And after examining him before you,

behold, I did not find this man guilty of any of your charges against
