Summary

Don sits down with Sam Harris, neuroscientist, philosopher, and bestselling author, for a wide-ranging and, at times, heated conversation about the state of the country. They unpack the chaos dominating the headlines, the growing anxiety about democratic norms, and the deeper philosophical questions beneath it all. The discussion intensifies as they dive into race, privilege, and how society talks about inequality. This is a candid exchange about power, identity, and what it means to navigate a deeply divided moment in America. 🍋 Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

1:33.3

But behind all of that is this basic fact that half the country,

1:38.3

something like half the country, doesn't see any of that.

1:42.3

I mean, at least 40% of Americans seem to think that things

1:47.0

are going pretty well and not much is at stake. So any topic we might touch here, whether it's

1:53.0

infringements of civil liberties or corruption, you know, the looming risk of disorder, you know, as America retreats from its

2:05.4

leadership role. Much of the country, I mean, something like half the country, either doesn't

care or is totally oblivious to these concerns. I think things are going well. And the more stuff
