There's a huge, important act of journalism that happened recently.

And I'm not talking about the White House Correspondents Dinner where it's just sort of a pat yourselves on the back

or whatever you want to call it,

folks who may be tone deaf or just don't really understand

the time that we're in.

So that's a whole other thing.

But it happened on 60 Minutes, which is, I believe,

America's, if, the world,

America's, if not the world's most trusted and important news magazine program or format ever.

And so this weekend, Scott Pelly, who is one of the correspondents there on the program,

and he was former anchor of the CBS Evening News, did something I thought was extraordinary at the end of the broadcast.

Let me just give you the backstory.

Their producer, Bill Owens, only the third executive producer or showrunner the entire time that 60 Minutes has been on air.

He resigned because he has concerns about the independence of the journalists who work at CBS and especially at 60 Min minutes, which he was oversaw.
