This is Lila and the Scottish Sky Pirates. Off the west coast of Scotland, where the wind blows all through the night,

there's an island that hums with magic and mystery, and it's called Ailza Craig.

Legend says that it was once a haven for pirates, who buried their most precious Craig. Island. She plots out imaginary routes and hideouts for them on her map, all from the safety of her bedroom, which is just how she likes it.

Mum pokes her head into Lela's room. Nearly ready for bed, Lela. She's studying a map as usual.

Not yet, Lela replies. Her nose practically touching the paper.

Which map are we exploring today then?

Elza Craig, of course.

Do you think there's treasure buried there?

Leila's mum grins mischievously.

As luck would have it, I'm tracking a storm tomorrow near Loch Ryan. That means you'll be flying

over Elza Craig and I want you to come with me. Really but you've never let me

fly with you before.

Lela's mom is a storm analyst, which means that she tracks storms by flying her plane right into the middle of them.

After each trip, she brings home a new map for Lila to show her all the amazing places she saw from the sky.

Lila likes to call her the Hurricane Hunter, just like those American TV shows, but as proud as Lila is of her mom,

she's not nearly as brave as her.

She likes it when things are clear and predictable,

which is exactly what you get with a map.

Will it be a big storm? Oh no. which is exactly what you get with a map.
