Today I'm delighted to present to you a special interview edition of the show conducted

earlier this month in downtown Las Vegas by our own Darren Revelle.

The subject of this interview is Billy Walters, the most influential man in sports that most

people have never heard of.

Reveered like Tom Brady, feared like Michael Jordan, Billy Walters built an empire in the

shadows, winning and losing and winning back fortunes several times over.

Billy Walters didn't invent sports betting, but he propelled it into the modern age, combining

a Wild West attitude and a banker's brain, the fortune industry, today worth hundreds

of billions of dollars.

And after a recent stint in prison, Billy, known as Mr. Walters to even the most hardened

gamblers, is the most dominant force in a world fueled by ego, money and iconoclasts.

And in that world, no one badmoutes Mr. Walters.

During a decade's long career in sports betting, Billy Walters kept an exceedingly low profile

with two notable exceptions.

The first, a 2011 interview he granted to 60 minutes.

The second, his 2017 trial on insider trading charges in a case involving famous golfer

Phil Mickelson that led to a years-long prison term for Walters before a presidential

pardon led to his release at the age of 74.
