The I'm going to be. Welcome to Spearath podcast to boosy dive into mythology, legends, and folklore.

0:32.6

Every week, we pour a drink and learn about a new story from around the world.

0:36.1

I'm Amanda.

0:36.9

And I'm Julia.

0:38.1

Amanda, you know, it's not very often in the history of this podcast, in the 10 years that we've

0:44.2

been doing this podcast, that you request a specific episode topic. That's true. Normally we're

0:51.8

sort of like very much driven by my interest, which I appreciate you allowing me to go down rabbit holes

0:57.4

that I happen to find during any given week.

1:00.4

But you very specifically requested an episode all about chickens and roosters.

1:07.4

1:11.4

I think I spent more time around chickens and roosters than is typical and looked at them and

1:40.8

and a mosquito. But I'm just curious about a species that has been inextricable to

1:45.6

humanity for about as long as we've been cultivating food. Oh, and don't worry, I'll tell you

1:50.1

how long we've been cultivating chickens for, because this is one of my favorite things now is

1:55.1

whenever we're talking about a certain animal, I'm like, how did this happen? How did we start

1:59.2

domesticating that? How long that guy been kicking around for? And I'm also really how did this happen? How did we start domesticating that? How long that guy I've been kicking around for?

2:02.2

And I'm also really glad that you talked about the little dinosaur feat of chickens because

2:08.0

low-key, real talk, chickens scare me a little bit.
