It is frequently alleged that Jay and Darby got his pre-tribulation rapture doctrine from Margaret MacDonald, a false prophetess from Glasgow, Scotland, who articulated this teaching under the influence of a deceiving spirit.

Darby believed this demonic revelation and he popularized it in the broader evangelical world.

Notice the force of the argument. The pre-tribulation rapture comes from a deceiving spirit,

therefore the pre-tribulation rapture must be rejected as a doctrine come from hell.

Now, this argument would be problematic if it were true. But is it true?

An accusation like this isn't true just because heavy-hitting influencers propagate it,

and tens of thousands of people believe them.

So what did Margaret MacDonald really teach?

Folks, sometimes the truth is stranger than fiction.

I'm going to read an excerpt from Margaret MacDonald's own handwritten account

of her 1830 Rapture Revelation that was included in Robert Norton's memoirs of James

and George McDonald of Port Glasgow, which was published in 1840. James and George were

Margaret's brothers, and they were all leaders in the Pentecostal movement in Scotland.
