We are in the last days. Prophetic signs are thickening around us.

The great falling away is battering the church, and I am here to encourage believers to resist

the winds of apostasy and keep their eyes on the blessed hope, the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Today's topic is the pre-tribulation rapture. I frequently hear men say that they

want to believe the pre-trib rapture, but they don't see anywhere in the Bible where it teaches

that there will be two comings. Is this a valid objection? Let's investigate. First off,

this argument is a logical fallacy.

It's a variation of the straw man argument.

A straw man argument gives the impression of refuting a point, though it doesn't actually refute

anything.

It merely sneakily skirts the issue.

Let's look at a generic example. Doctrine A is false if we don't see

it expressed with method B in the Bible. We don't see method B in the Bible, therefore

doctrine A is false. Folks, it is irrelevant if method B isn't used in the Bible to prove

doctrine A. What matters is if any method B isn't used in the Bible to prove Doctrine A.

What matters is if any method for proving Doctrine A appears in the Bible.

The straw man argument is pernicious and dangerous.

It doesn't reveal truth.

It obscures truth.

It is used, for example, to deny the Trinity.

Many men will say things like,
