Hello, welcome to the second episode of newscast that we've recorded on Monday after

our little bonus Oscars special, my little passion project.

Chris, did you stay up all night for the Oscars? I'm guessing

no. I didn't but I had my moment of drama at about half past six this

morning Adam. When I woke up obviously keen to hear what I've been happening in

know I'm not a great film buff and I flick on the radio and I open up my phone and there's an email

from Reform UK at 6.01 a.m. saying we're doing a news conference at half 10 in

Westminster and I thought well hello what might this be about?

So that was my moment of jeopardy waking up and seeing who'd won a political gong,

rather than a statuette in, you know, West Coast America.

Here is my theory of today.

So you are then at that event at 1030, which is where Reform UK announced that Lee Anderson, who'd

recently lost the Conservative whip, was defecting to their party, making him their first MP in Parliament.

Just an hour later, I was at the Institute for Government Think Tank

where they were releasing a big report about how you could reform Number 10 Downing Street

and Whitehall in the Treasury to make it

work better for the country and this report was introduced by Sir John Major and

Gordon Brown and was watched by loads of former senior civil servants and the great and the good.

And for me, that was just a perfect encapsulation of what's happening here with politics.
