Luke chapter 4 verses 1 and 2 and then Luke chapter 4 verses 17 and 18.

Let's listen to them both.

First versus 1 and 2.

And Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan

and was led by the Spirit in the

wilderness for 40 days, being tempted by the devil.

So that's the first two verses.

And then later, when Jesus comes to the synagogue on the Sabbath, verse 17, says,

The scroll of the prophet Isaiah was given to him.

He unrolled the scroll and found the place where it was written.

The spirit of the Lord is upon me because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor.

He has sent me to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lord's

favor. So do you see the relationship between these two parts of Luke chapter 4?

Both revolve around the fullness of the Holy Spirit on Jesus.

Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, Luke 4 starts,

was led by the Spirit into the wilderness for 40 days where he was tempted by the devil.

So just think on the most basic level today, you will be tempted by the devil.

You will face temptation to sin all day long today.

Face it even right now.

So how important is it?

How vital is it to walk in step with the spirit at every moment?
