A handshake in Riyadh.

One, the President of the United States, Donald Trump.

The other, a young man in a black beard and a blue suit reaching out to shake the hands

of the president. His name is Al-Shara. Used to be Al-Zalani. He is a known terrorist, according to the

United States record-keeping, associated with al-Qaeda, associated with ISIS, jailed in Iraq,

a man who has very carefully over the years survived with brutality. He led a group, HTS, that was part of the Idlib province

al-Qaeda operations still underway. And yet, I welcome Hussein Abdul-Hassain of the Foundation for the Defense of Democracy's Research Fellow,

writing most recently of the possibilities that handshake bring to the whole of the region,

not just the damaged and broken Syria, not just the under attack Israel,

certainly not only what is happening in Jordan, which is

indeterminative but not promising.

But Lebanon, the whole of the region needs the handshake that we see in Riyadh.

I welcome Hussain to describe the possibility of that handshake.

Right now, the conditions in Lebanon, Hezbollah seems to be decapitated in some fashion,

but it is very strong and numerous throughout the land.
