I'm Celia Hatton, coming to you live from London.

We'll start with strong indications coming from the Middle East

that a ceasefire deal might soon be signed

to end the 13-month conflict between Israel

and the Lebanese militant group, Hezbollah.

Israel's security cabinet is just starting a meeting to vote on the deal.

On the table, a proposal for a 60-day truce.

The deal would reportedly see Israeli troops gradually withdraw from Lebanon.

In return, Hezbollah fighters would move away from the Israeli border.

The independent Lebanese MP Nazat Aun Saliba said she hopes the deal would allow displaced

citizens to return home. We hope that this is for the benefit of the people who have been

completely displaced from their villages to go back to their home,

and also that the sovereignty of the country is protected as well.

And I don't think any country in the world would accept another country to have this freedom

to go and invade its territory as it sees it best for its own benefit.

More than a million people in Lebanon have been displaced by the conflict since October

last year, and approximately 60,000 Israelis have been forced to leave their homes in northern

Israel. For more, let's speak to our security correspondent Frank Gardner in Jerusalem.
