We're talking real money.

Most of the time as financial advisors, financial planners, we're talking about how to make money,

how to accumulate your savings, how to grow it, and how to live off it. But most of the time we talk to you, you want to know, listen, do I have enough to retire? That's the key thing. You're not thinking so much about how to give it away or in the instance that I'm going to talk about here at a minute to die with zero, which is an interesting thought. Hi, this is Tom Koch. Thanks for joining me on talking real money today, and we're going to be talking with Roxy Butner in just a couple of minutes with some of your questions. But, you know, we did a, I did a book review six or eight months ago and somebody called in and say, hey, do another book review. And there's a book I just read. It's, it's provocative. The title is die with zero, getting all you can from your money and your

life by Bill Perkins. It's an interesting concept here that we sort of leave the earth as we came

in with nothing and have given it all away before we go or close to it.

We do classes regularly.

We talk about accumulation.

We talk about spending.

We show examples of if you built this portfolio and the markets acted this way and you took this much out.

Here's what you ended up with.

And there was one time I was doing this class in Arizona.

And I think the example I

showed if you'd done it a certain way and you made a certain amount that you ended up with like

$10 million when you died. And there was a guy in the back row who put his hand up and said,

Tom, you've got it all wrong. I want the last check I write to bounce, which I always thought

was a funny idea. But in the book, Die with Zero,

that's what Bill Perkins is advocating. What's he talking about? He's talking about spending your

money on experiences, helping others, and one of the experiences Bill has as a very, let's just

put it this way. He's made a lot of money as an energy trader.

He flew everyone to, I think, like St. Bart's for his 50th birthday.

I mean, it's pretty good.
