Drones are everywhere, little quadcopter drones.

They're polluting our skies.

There's a sound effect of one playing right now.

And people are concerned that these drones could cause accidents,

that they could, I know, get in the way of small airplanes.

The Dutch police force has come up with a very interesting way to take down a drone if they need to.

Mark Webus is a policeman in Holland.. So Mark can you tell us about it?

Okay. Well in innovation in policing we always like to look at solutions that biology might provide and we thought what's best to use to catch technical bird out of

the sky and we trained an eagle fishing eagle we call it in Dutch and we train the bird to to catch a drone out of the sky.

So what does this look like?

Well there's the eagle and the drone and think of the quadcopter drum the most popular

drums in the in Holland it's hanging somewhere in the sky and the eagle is

released and

catches the drown in midair and brings it down to a safe place.

What the equal considers a safe place to bring his prey down and we'll trade it off the eagle by presenting some meat, a piece of chicken for instance.

It's quite close to its normal hunting behavior.

It's just that it's not catching a fish out of water or a bird out of the sky, but a drone out of the sky.

Have any of the drones ever fought back?

No, they tend to fall apart because the eagles are quite

firm in their grip and we've lost a lot of drones. Oh no. These are young Bercow.

Of course they are now not 3-year-old, I think 8 months old of age and they are very enthusiastic
