Today, we continue our journey with Jesus.

before we leave our time in mark chapter number two I want to deal with

something that I hope will be a great encouragement and help to you.

This chapter ends with Jesus declaring that the Sabbath was made for man and not man for the Sabbath.

And then he says a remarkable thing about himself.

He says, therefore the son of man, which by the way was Jesus' favorite title for himself.

He is the son of God.

But every time he says son of man, he's just identifying with us. Therefore, the son of man is Lord

also of the Sabbath. I think there's a wonderful truth here for all people who are working for

the Lord. Now remember, the Pharisees were religious workers, but they

were religious workers who missed the big picture. And the Lord Jesus is surrounded at this same time

by his own disciples, by his own followers, people that he is preparing to do his work in this world.

And I think one of the great rules for every worker is you need to learn

the one you're working for. It's really not about the Sabbath so much. It's about learning the

Lord of the Sabbath. And I want to talk to you for a moment about working for the Lord of Sabbath.

And there's several things in this passage that strike me. One is that we need to

know ourselves and understand ourselves in the right way. In this same passage, Jesus talks about

David having a season where he was hungry, where he had need and had to have needs met.
