John 1624 says ask and receive and your joy will be full.

Now I want you to think about that word receive.

Because what we do most of the time is try to get something.

And that puts us into a mode of works and effort and struggle and many times frustration.

But receiving means to act as a receptacle and take in what's being offered now i'm going to

prove to you today scripturally that god never tells us to get anything he tells us to

receive everything that we need from him.

And I think that we're better at receiving from the devil than we are at receiving from God.

It doesn't take the devil long to talk to you into receiving condemnation.

Our guilt, our self-pity, our jealousy, or anything like that.

But sometimes we just don't know how to receive freely from God because we have this idea that we don't deserve all the good things he wants

to do for us.

Amen?

We don't deserve that.

This can't be real.

God couldn't possibly do that for me, not the way I am.

But let's make a decision to start believing what the word of God says instead of trying to figure it out.

Let's just believe it.
