Summary

We live in a culture that is pressing in hard on us as parents but particularly as moms. Voices are coming from all directions telling us how to parent, how to homeschool, etc. This can quickly cause us to not only not enjoy our kids, but to be constantly dealing with fear and doubt. Most of all it distracts us and undermines our ability to hone in on what GOD is speaking to our mom hearts. Today I will be talking about 3 common things that typically challenge us and become obstacles to hearing and walking out the heart of God for our kids. I will also be sharing my own most recent struggle with this and how God revealed Himself to me in a very real and powerful way! The Unhurried Homeschooler-a simple, mercifully short book on homeschooling (aff link) Podcast with Ginny from 1000 Hours Outside mentioned in the podcast: Why Our Kids Need to Spend Time Outside (Podcast 82) The Biggest Little Farm (aff link)  Scriptures mentioned in the podcast: Psalm 37:4-6 (NLT) Joshua 1:9  Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go. Isaiah 26:3 You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you. Isaiah 41:10 Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God.; I will strengthen you,, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. Proverbs 3:5,6 Trust in the Lord with all of your heart; do not depend on your own understanding.  Seek His will in all you do, and He will show you which path to take.

Hey, everyone. Welcome to this week's podcast. I'm Darynda Wilson. Married to Daryl for 30 years. We have

eight kids, ages 28, down to 15. We've graduated six so far. And we have

0:24.4

six grandkids. If you're a regular listener, you know that my favorite thing to do is to get on

0:31.1

this podcast and bring as much encouragement to moms as I can. And today is no different.

0:37.0

Today I'm going to be talking about learning to

0:39.4

listen to your mom instincts. This is something that I run into a lot and have had happen a lot in my

0:47.8

own life, is this conflict that I see in the hearts of moms as they're sharing their struggles with me.

0:55.7

And then also looking at my own heart as a mom,

0:58.7

one of our biggest struggles is feeling like God is putting something on our hearts,

1:04.1

but it looks so different than what anybody else is saying,

1:16.9

it should look like, even we thought it would look like. It looks different. And so we have this hesitation and we wonder, are we crazy? Should we be listening

1:22.7

or should we be listening to all these other voices that are pressing in on us? And the truth is, we live in a culture that is pressing in hard on everyone, but especially

1:34.2

parents and particularly moms.

1:37.3

We are told from literally everyone how we should parent.

1:42.1

This quickly causes us to not only not enjoy our kids, but to constantly

1:48.6

be dealing with fear. Most of all, it distracts us and it undermines our ability to hone in on

1:56.2

our mom instincts. And what I mean by mom instincts is this. I believe that as God gives each child to us,

2:08.2

he also gives us the wisdom along the way to do what is best for them as we walk through

2:15.4

each season with them.

2:18.7

This involves a commitment to prayer, along with seeking God's heart for our children.

2:24.3

The problem is that with so many voices screaming at us through social media, well-meaning or not-so-well-meaning family and friends, even strangers,

2:38.9

and our own ideas of what good parenting looks like we cannot even hear that still small
