Do young children need special foods?

There's a growing industry that says, yes.

Because parents are stressed, busy, hard up, don't have time to cook, maybe can't cook and need help.

I hope you enjoy our exploration because, actually, it's a question with some answers that matters to all of us.

Do small children need special food? That's what we're looking at in today's program and I'm in a big

supermarket and if you are with me or if you were in any large supermarket I

think you might conclude that the answer must be yes

because there's a lot of them on sale

and what I've got in front of me

yeah seven shelves a lot of food for children, for babies from six months on. Ready meals, purees in

pouches with screw-off-tops. And beyond that we've got the snacks no junk promise one of your

five a day yes very very, bright colors, jolly cartoon characters.
