Good morning everyone and welcome back to the messy masterpiece podcast with Chad and Tori. I'm Chad and I'm Tori and we're super excited to be devoting ourselves daily to the Lord with you all without further ado. I know that was like 20 seconds. Let's just hop in. I like I talk so much without further ado.

Here's the devotional right now. Yes y'all let's just jump into it today. We're reading out of act 1711 and the devotional is titled search the scriptures and we're reading out of the Thrive Study Bible. I know a lot of you guys have it. So if you do have it, it's on page 1377 and you can read along.

And the people of Buria were more open-minded than those in Thessalonica and they listened eagerly to Paul's message. They searched the scriptures day after day to see if Paul and Silas were teaching the truth.

The love letter from God says, beloved child, I want you to have an understanding of how important my word is to your life. I don't want you to underestimate the hidden treasures of wisdom and truth that are yours to discover. The more you read my word, the less the world will control you. The more you meditate on the truth, the less you will be controlled by others false ideas.

My word is your lifeline. It is the key that sets you free. Don't be satisfied knowing me from a distance. Make our relationship your top priority and you will find everything you need hidden in my word. Love your Heavenly Father.

The reflection says, we sometimes forget that the word of God is alive and powerful. It is inspired by the Holy Spirit to give us a vibrant relationship with our very real God. When we stay close to God and read His word, we are transformed and have a new understanding of who we are in Christ.

The treasure of truth says, when God's word becomes personal, it becomes alive in us.

Yeah, that kind of convicted me because I feel like I sometimes stop admiring scripture. I kind of just treat it like it's a book.

It's an important book. It's a book that I live my life off of, but I don't always find excitement running to it. And of course, you find excitement to the things that bring you value.

If you're excited to see a friend, it's because there's something happening there. There's a value that you are excited about.

I feel like I personally need to recover that excitement and that value because reading that reminded me of the power of God's word and the importance of it.

Rather than just kind of memorizing scripture or just reading it because, oh, I read my Bible today. Did you read for your 15 minutes today?

Yeah, but it's actually something that's alive. Yeah, it's alive and we can get excited to go seek it versus just all the other things that I run to immediately whenever we wake up.

Yeah, that was definitely convicting for me.

Yeah, I love how it said, I don't want you to underestimate the hidden treasures of wisdom and truth that are yours to discover.

And I love looking at the word of God like it's a treasure chest. You know what I mean?

Like if you're searching for gold, you're searching for something that's really valuable to you, kind of like you're saying.

And it's like, there's an excitement around it because you know you're going to get something from it.

And the word of God says seek and you will find. And so if we're actually seeking something, we're seeking the heart of God as we read the scripture.

I do think it becomes a lot more alive and powerful to us because it says seek and you will find seek him and you will find him.

It's so many DMs from a lot of you and I love responding and talking to you guys about it.

When God feels distant and my encouragement always is seek him in his word.
