Summary

Mark, Lou, and Greg continue to take measured data from Tour (and, in this case, also amateur) swings and see what it tells us for making real improvement in our games. In this episode, Mark quizzes Greg and Lou about hip movement at setup and through the swing. Lou asks a perceptive question: does the pelvis movement create the good swing, or is it an effect of other parts of an elite golf swing? From there, the discussions goes in a number of directions that can help all of us learn how to learn to play better golf.

It's a little swing test for the boys again. I know you like these episodes. Hopefully we can do some justice explaining some of these numbers we're talking about. So Lou and Greg are going to try and guess today. We might have already done this. So if you do remember the answer to this one, but I don't think we have pelvic side bend. So pelvis side bend, which I'll explain in a minute, with a driver, with the average tour pro.

I'm using gears for the numbers on this one.

So from their tour pros, they've compiled like the average swing, and we're basing it on those

So pay off excite, Ben. Think about standing face on to a camera or to your mirror. So you can see your reflection back of you. You want to think about your lead pocket. So for me, would be my left. Is that higher or lower than my trail, my right pocket? So you have bends in golf swing. So that would be like bending forwards going into what

people call golf posture. Not that side bend. So if I was to lower trail shoulder, lift, lead

shoulder. So I tilt my shoulders like they're pointing up into the sky. My pelvis might go a bit

with that, those kind of ideas.

Now, if you imagine as hips rotate in the back swing, they often don't rotate on a level

There is elements of tilt in that rotation.
