Welcome back to another episode of the Adam Schaefter podcast.

And being that the Patriots were the story of Free Agent Week, the opening week of

free agency, we figured we would reach out to one former Patriots wide receiver and one new

Patriots wide receiver as this week's featured guests. First, we'll speak with former Patriots

wide receiver, Josh Gordon, who rarely speaks to the media and talks about all he's gone through

and all he still hopes to do as he hopes to return to the media and talks about all he's gone through and all he still hopes to do as he

hopes to return to the NFL. And then we'll be joined by new Patriots wide receiver,

Kendrick Bourne, who left the 49ers to sign a three-year, $22.5 million deal with the New England Patriots. It was all part of the spending spree

that Robert Kraft, the Patriots owner, Bill Belichick, the Patriots head coach went on during

the first week of free agency when they sign 19 players to contracts worth almost $300 million, including about $162 million in guaranteed money,

close to what Robert Kraft spent to buy the Patriots in 1996.

So in one week, Robert Kraft spent almost as much on players as he did

for the Patriots franchise some 25 years ago. And it was so Patriot-like to see them go

the opposite way that every other team was going at a time where teams by and large

were cutting back and not spending and not signing free agents. Of course, the Patriots jump in

and unleash the spending spree signing anybody and everybody within sight. They always do what's opposite of everybody else.

And we'll see how this works out. But it was a reflection of how thin the talent on the roster is.

And I don't think they're done just yet. I still think there'll be more moves as we lead up to the

draft next month. And they really jumped into the free agent market.
