When you walk those floors in April, a total quiet, everybody that on a vent are a nice

view, nobody talking, no visitors quiet.

And you walk down the hall and you know, a good percentage of these people probably won't

make it.

That was our reality.

New York was the first major epicenter of the pandemic in the United States.

As the virus rippled through the state, tens of thousands of patients flooded the hallways

of New York's hospitals.

Northwell Health, one of the largest private healthcare systems in the state, was at the

center of the storm.

With most of its facilities in New York City and surrounding areas, they've treated more

COVID-19 patients than any other hospital system in the country.

So today I sit down and speak to Michael Dowley, he's president and CEO of Northwell Health,

who has co-written a new book about the lessons learned in the early days of the coronavirus

crisis.

I'm Dr. Sanjay Gupta, CNN's chief medical correspondent, and this is coronavirus, fact

versus fiction.

Let me just start off by asking how are you doing?

Well, right now it's relatively easy compared to what it was like back in April and in March.

As you know, we only have about 80 COVID patients in our facilities right now.

Back in April, we had 3,500 in patients in our facilities.

And in total, we actually have treated 76,000 COVID patients.
