Today's message is from Breakway's Executive Director, Timothy Etique.

I want to start off tonight just by sharing with you a really unfortunate decision that I made

during my sophomore year here at Texas A&M University. I was home in Dallas

over the Christmas holidays, and there was this girl that I wanted to ask out.

She also lived in Dallas, but she went to Texas A&M.

The only thing was that I wanted to ask her out, but she was a younger sister of one of my

fraternity brothers, and he was the six foot six tall intimidating guy.

His name was and is Brian. I wanted to ask out Brian's sister.

And I wanted to somehow ask his sister out without him knowing.

I don't know why I thought that was a good idea, but that's the idea that I had.

And so I went with that.

So I was home in Dallas over the Christmas break.

I didn't have her phone number, and so I called my friend Ryan, not Brian.

That's the name of the girl's brother.

But I called my friend, Ryan, who had her number.

He gave me her number, and I wrote it down on a piece of paper, because here's the deal.

Cellphones existed back then, but this was still a time where we like wrote numbers down,

and we still called home lines.
