Well, I want to start off tonight just by sharing with you a really unfortunate decision that I made during my sophomore year here at Texas A&M University.

I was home in Dallas over the Christmas holidays, and there was this girl that I wanted to ask out.

She also lived in Dallas, but she went to Texas A&M.

The only thing was that I wanted to ask her out, but she was the younger sister of one of my fraternity brothers, and he was this six-foot-six, tall, intimidating guy.

His name is, was, and is Brian.

I wanted to ask out Brian's sister, and I wanted to somehow ask his sister out without him

knowing. I don't know why I thought that was a good idea, but that's the idea that I had. And so I went

with that. So I was home in Dallas over the Christmas break. I didn't have her phone number,

and so I called my friend Ryan, not Brian. That's the name of the girl's brother, but I called my friend

Ryan who had her number.

He gave me her number and I wrote it down on a piece of paper because here's the deal.

Cell phones existed back then, but this was still a time where we like wrote numbers down

and we still called home lines.

Like it was a very primitive time, people.

Like I understand that.

But that's just what I was dealing with.

And so Ryan gave me her number and he said, hey, T.A.,

after you call her, call me and just tell me how it went.

So I said, okay, great, I got off the phone.

I picked up my phone. I looked at the phone. I picked up my phone.
