and hello to all of you. I want to talk a little bit about your origin story. You grew up on a farm

in rural Canada, but you also had parents who were German immigrants. They survived

the war. Your father had been in prison camp. So I'd love to hear a little bit about how that

environment shaped your early days, your work, your identity, and what it meant to earn your place

in the world. Yeah, great. Thanks. It's a perfect place to start because I think of each of us as whole and full and rich human

beings and I think it's important to understand the whole, somebody's whole lived experience.

So yes, I grew up with two immigrant parents.

My mother was a child refugee during the Second World War.

My father was a Russian prisoner of war during the Second World War.

Like most newcomers to a new country, you want a better life and you're trying to put trauma

behind you.
