Lee Carpenter is the author of Iliam, a novel. Lee, by the way, is a good friend of mine,

and we went to business school together. Fun story. before I even started business school, I got an email from the school paper, The Harbis, and it said, we'd love to invite you to write for us when you get to school. And I thought, oh my gosh, this is amazing. They know I'm a writer. So I went to the meeting the first day, and there were a group of us there, all women.

And as we went around, we started saying our names, and I said, hi, I'm Zibby, and we said, I'm Lee, and someone else said, I'm Betsy, and someone else said, I'm Liz. And the editors of the paper said, we thought we'd try something funny, and we invited all the girls in the grade named Elizabeth. How random is that? So anyway, of course,

I ended up becoming arts and culture editor of the paper. I had a column and all of that, and

it ended up being super helpful for me while I was there to be able to express my feelings.

But anyway, Lee and I meant that way and became friends when I started writing my very first novel right after school.
