My name is Daniel Port, and I am excited to have you here with us today.

When we talked about Adam Wainwright and the Mandela effect last week, I distinctly, I

mentioned that I distinctly remember being like a 60 war guy who at least one Syung and then it turns out he never won a Syung and his peak was a lot shorter than I

remember. We only managed about 45 war and this really stuck with me and in many ways while he was a

much better player than Wainwright I think my brain did much the same thing with today's subject as well

in Miguel Cabrera,

at least, especially when it comes to longevity and war totals.

If I were to have you guess what Miguel Cabrera's career war totals might have been,

you would probably guess somewhere in at least the 80s, if not higher. Just because you're thinking,

one of two MVPs, he was one of the greatest hitters to ever play the game, you would

have expected a lot higher. And yet, he only really amassed about 67.3 war across his entire

career. He had only three seasons with more than seven war and he never

topped eight war in a single season, which just blew my mind. I was expecting to have like

top ten discussions regarding the list when it came to Miggie, but now I don't know, I don't

know where to start that discussion. And here's the thing, though.

To some degree, I think those war numbers lie.

Or if they don't lie, per se, they don't really tell the whole story of Miguel Cabrera's impact.

And we'll get there as we dive into a lot of his defensive numbers and things like that.

But just to look at some of his peak.

From 2004 to roughly 2013, there wasn't a more feared hitter in baseball outside of maybe

Barry Bonds.
