We're talking about low-maintenance crops to grow if you are a busy person which is most of us. I think it's safe to say, most of us are pretty

busy people in our lives. So what can we grow that doesn't, what can we grow that just doesn't take a lot of time? How can we make our gardening lower efforts, lower input, and still get a bunch of stuff out of it?

So let's talk about that. The first thing we want to do is grow things that are annual crops and have a fairly long

season. So these are set it and forget it crops is a good way to think about them.

They don't need a lot of babying and you harvest them all at once so you don't need to run around checking to see if different plants are ready to harvest.

So here's some obvious examples here. Anything that's a root

crop. Garlic, sweet potatoes, potatoes, winter squash, onions. All of these are

very long season because it takes a while for that bulb or tuber to develop and then you

harvest them all at once.

You will either cure them or store them, they'll just last forever.

And again, they don't take a lot of time so most root crops are really good ideas for

low maintenance gardeners here's a couple other annuals that you may want to

consider asparagus brussel sprouts, cabbage, leeks, tomatoes, watermelon, and I know that tomatoes

and asparagus are a little bit higher effort than you might think, but again, these are pretty good choices, not amazing choices.

Obviously, root crops are going to be a bit lower maintenance than some of these.

But regardless, they all are still long season,

and you harvest them all at once as well.

You know, a cabbage, you wait until it gets a nice head,

and then you just harvest the head.

Broccoli, again, similar situation there.

So those are some other good choices.
