Good to be with you on a very busy Wednesday as everybody is out on the freeway and everybody

is on their way to LAX or in the sky or landing after departing from LAX.

But for a short period of time, LAX was blocked last night on the busiest travel day of this entire holiday season.

KFI's Michael Monks will fill us in on the details.

It was a protest or a strike

or a threat of a strike. What was going on? It was a protest by a union that is pretty well known here

in the city of Los Angeles. They are people who have rallied behind some of the most controversial

worker-oriented policies that have been adopted at LA City Hall in recent years. They're known as

Unite Here Local 11. They tend to represent folks who are in the hospitality industry, restaurants,

hotels, and those who work at the airport. What happened last night was traffic was already a mess.

Traffic in Los Angeles is a mess anyway. It's particularly heavy during this busy travel

season as people get out of town or into town for Thanksgiving. And yesterday evening, Unite

here local 11 members who work in catering for airlines took to the streets, not the sidewalks,

the streets, and blocked a busy intersection,

keeping cars from moving to where they needed to go as folks were trying to get to their

flight. Some people abandon their cars and walked the rest of the way. These union members were

physically blocking some cars from moving forward and arguing with folks who said,
