But Larry, you showed up early.

Yeah, I mean for a writer, you're supposed to show up late,

smelling a tobacco, tobacco whiskey and opium.

Right, well once I gave up those three things I started getting places early.

Right, clearly that's what happened.

So Larry Block is my guess, Lawrence Block, and at the risk of embarrassing

myself in front of him, and luckily I've done that many times. I'm just saying Larry you know this you know if someone

asked me to name the the five writers whose work I've read the most you'd be one of

them you'd probably make the top three and I think I started reading your books

when I was 14 years old in fact in the last short story collection of stories

about one of your characters Matt Scudder
