Obviously, crime and law and order themes have been in the news a bit lately thanks to

I think most of the conversation around that has been a very political focus like Candace

Win the election for Trump and there's been a fair amount of stuff about looting and

vandalism and rioting in a couple of cities.

But I really wanted today to sort of like put that whole conversation, which is like very

partisan and very a little weird and meta aside.

And talk about something that I think is more concrete and real, which is that in most

American cities, to the best of our knowledge, there has been a large increase, very large

in some cases, increase in the number of people getting shot and accordingly a large increase

in the number of people being murdered.

And it's not in 100% obvious why that is, but it's a big striking trend.
