Cox's journey to this point has been anything but likely.

Born and raised in Mobile, Alabama, in a religious home and conservative community, she

knew early on that she was not like the kids around her, and constantly was reminded of that

by bullies, teachers, and even relatives. But she also knew that she had to be and express herself, which she initially did through dance and later through acting.

It was a desire to live more freely and to pursue her passion
