I am thrilled that my guest today is Laura McCowan, who has just released a really brilliant

book.

It's called We Are the Luckiest, the Surprising Magic

of a Sober Life. And Laura is not only an author, she's also a yoga instructor. She had

several podcasts, one of which home was in the top 100 of iTunes podcasts, and she also runs

online courses on a whole variety of themes. So,

It's really brilliant and really beautiful. And I was just saying to you before we got started

that even though the backdrop of the book, the backdrop your story is getting sober from alcohol,

really it's such a spiritual book, it's a human book, and it's a book about an awakening for me as a reader.

Yeah, I wanted it to be not just a book about.

I look at what happened to me as an invitation to

awakening, right? And I think anything that causes us to do that is perfect, you know, and

mine just happened to be alcohol addiction. So what were you before all of, before your breakthrough and before you got sober, what were you doing?

I know what you were doing with your work and your career, but you were also really looking

into spirituality and that was a big part of your life.

Yeah, I mean, I think I had always been a seeker.

Even as a kid, I can look back now and say I was drawn to books

that were not the typical, you know, child books per se. I was interested, not in organized

religion, but just this idea of God, of, I find God to come through me through words, mostly.
