It is a warm spring day in Fort Myers, Florida in early May 2013.

After days of unanswered phone calls and a gut feeling that something is horribly wrong,

authorities have finally forced

their way inside. As the front door swings open, a blast of frigid air pours out. The air

conditioning has been set unnaturally low. The officer's eyes adjust to the dim light. All the

curtains have been drawn shut. The fine layer of condensation clings to the inside of the windows, dripping

slowly. A tell-tale sign that the cool air inside has been battling the Florida heat outside.
