On this episode, we welcome award-winning writer Joyce Carol Oates, whose new collection of short

stories, Zero Sum, was published earlier this month. Plus, we'll hear from Seth's mom, Hillary Myers,

who joins our Late Night Lit summer series to share a couple of recommendations for your own summer reading.

Joyce Carol Oates is an award-winning author of over 60 books, not including short stories, essays,

plays, and poems. She is also a professor, having taught students at universities across the country

for several decades. Joyce speaks to us about her new book, and what the title of this short story

collection means to her, as well as the things that drew her to teaching and those aspects of it

that she finds the most rewarding. She also shares her reaction to last year's film adaptation of her

novel Blonde, a fictionalized take on the life of Marilyn Monroe. Now, here's my conversation with
