studios in Central London. I'm Tim Franks. Anthony Blinken is a US Secretary of State who tends to choose his words carefully

and so the chances are his description of the state of seasire talks for Gaza

was quite deliberate. Now he said is probably the best maybe the last opportunity

to secure an end to the fighting and a release of hostages, which is why there's been such intense international activity

over recent days to try to squeeze Hamas in Israel to the point where a deal is made.

Mr. Blinken's currently in Israel and this is some of what he's had to say, at least in public.

It is time for it to get done.

It's also time to make sure that no one takes any steps that could derail this process.

And so we're working to make sure that there is no escalation,

there are no provocations, that there are no actions that in any way

could move us away from getting this deal over the line or for that matter

escalating the conflict to other places and to greater intensity.

Wirra, what are you hearing about how these talks, how this effort for

Anthony Blington to get the deal over the line is going?

Hi Tim, yeah, it's really interesting actually.

This is a two and a half hour meeting, so a long meeting by anybody's judgment and one would assume

that there was quite a lot of substance discussed.

But the only statement we've had from the Israeli Prime Minister's office is that the

meeting was positive and held in a good atmosphere. There's been very little information
