Hi everyone, welcome back to National Park after Dark We Are On Our Part 2 of our last episode.

And as promised, Cassie's telling it to me the very next day.

So it's so fresh on my mind, but I'm sure you have a recap for everyone, right?

I do, especially since it's been a week for everybody else.

I know we left off in a very precarious situation with the polar bear.

We did.

But I'll do a quick recap of the whole episode just really quick.

because it's really important, but I'll give a little brief overview.

So Ada, who has been a big character in the episode, it started out with her husband left her

and her son who had tuberculosis abandoned in Beringland Bridge National preserve.

And they had no money and they had very little food.

So she walked 40 miles back to Nome, Alaska to find work.

She had worked as a seamstress in a house made, but it wasn't making enough money for her to care for her son Bennett.

And she eventually had to put him into an orphanage.

Stephenson, an explorer, had put together a crew to lead an expedition to Wrangle Island

with the intention of colonizing it.

He gathered Fred, Alan, Lauren, and Robert to go on this expedition and they arrived in Nome

and they advertised for a job for Inuit peoples to join them.

And when it came to the day to leave, Ada Blackjack was the only Inuit person who showed up.

Reluctantly, she did join the expedition as a seamstress in a cook for the crew, but when she arrived to Wrangle Island, she struggled a lot.
