Summary

On the same night and only twenty minutes apart, members of parliament from two different countries cast votes which would determine the fate of their current head of government. On one end, lawmakers voted against a bill that represented their opinions just to wound the coalition, and on the other - a Prime Minister rejoiced even though nearly half of his party voted in favor of outing him. Sounds crazy, right? Well - for our Israeli and British co-hosts, respectively, that’s just called internal politics.  And- "Fight like a girl" may have been an insult once, but now, for young women in the IDF, it’s becoming more and more of a reality. Yonit and Jonathan discuss the Israeli military’s latest promise for a gender based revolution - and how, despite the strict conditions for recruitment and prolonged timetable for implementation - this decision to integrate more women into combat units still counts as a victory.  Plus - being named mensch once doesn’t guarantee you won’t be brought up again - even if it’s the opposite category. Find out which former world leader (and former Mensch) landed herself in the Chutzpah slot. It's publication day. Oh, my God. It's already on Amazon number one bestseller. This is amazing stuff.

0:30.5

Yeah, I'm sort of still a bit speechless about that, to be honest, because today is the publication

0:34.7

day, and you always imagine it being a long haul and quite a sort of long march to get people to notice a book and to talk about it.

0:43.2

And it is literally number one on the Amazon bestsellers list today. You know, I've done a few

0:50.3

interviews and, you know, maybe people heard those and thought, this sounds interesting.

0:54.8

But yeah, I'm a bit blown away by it because I didn't think that would happen. I mean,

0:59.6

sometimes you know when things like this are going to happen. I didn't have any idea this was going. I

1:03.1

didn't see this coming. So we're going to tell our listeners that next week we're going to talk at length.

1:07.3

We're going to do something we've never done before here on the podcast. I will interview

you. So if I were you, I would be very prepared. That's all I'm saying. I hear that you're a pretty

1:17.3

tough interrogator. So when we come to talk about the escape artist by Jonathan Friedland,

1:22.8

published by John Murray, now available, I fear I'm going to be grilled. That was a very elegant plug in, my friend.

1:28.9

Yeah, we had to get that in.

1:30.2

Yeah.

1:30.4

No, look, you will talk about it properly next week.

1:32.7

And I feel as if you and, well, you have actually read it, but unholy listeners have been sort of in on this process as it's been developing.

1:40.6

Because every now and again we have mentioned it, haven't we?

1:42.8

We have.

1:43.5

Yep, we have mentioned it haven't we we have we have and
