So welcome, everyone to the Untold Story podcast. I'm Martha McCallum. And today I'm really pleased to be joined by Larry Cudlow, who I've known for a long time. And, you know, Larry, I was walking by, I saw you a couple of weeks ago, I guess, at a dinner, and we chatted briefly. And Paul Ryan was there and he talked about

knowing you way back when. And I thought to myself, you know, I don't even know if you remember this,

but we met, you and I met when I worked at the Wall Street Journal report with Consuelo Mac because I was just a young, brand new producer in those days.

And, you know, you used to do the show a lot.

And so that was the first time that I interacted with you.

And I think everybody loves watching you on your show and knowing about your

history or deep history with two different administrations and your supply side economics and your

books and all of it. But I thought, you know, I'd like to talk to Larry about economics, of course,

at the top here, as always. But I also want to ask a little bit about your personal story, because I find it really moving. And I just think that people would benefit from

knowing a little bit more about you because everybody loves you so much. So let me just start,

first of all, with the business side of it, right? I just want to say thank you, Martha.

Well, thank you. Thank you. And this number that came out this morning, and I heard

Art Laffer, your good buddy, who you've worked with and been close to for so many years, talking

about this top line inflation number today, 9.1%. And people will be listening to this podcast over the

next week or so. But, you know, tell us why you think it's so important to sort of pull back on the spending

and what the White House needs to do if we're going to turn this thing around.

Well, look, today's report was a disastrous report, much worse than people thought.
