First, let's start with the news.

How often are you at Starbucks or really any other less evil chain of coffee shop for that matter?

And you hear someone ask for almond milk in their drink.

Whether it's just a splash or a full-blown almond milk latte,

it's safe to say that it feels more and more like people are consuming dairy alternatives

as opposed to 2% or whole.

Unfortunately, while this may seem good for your health,

it's not so good for the bees.

According to the Guardian, the almond industry in California is absolutely devastating

the honeybee population to the tune of billions of bees just months.

The reason?

Well, as the cut notes,

the Titanic and growing demands of the California almond industry

are placing a huge strain on the hives of bees used to pollinate their orchards.

As it turns out,

many farmers are getting supplementary income

by renting out their bee hives to pollinate these almonds.
