0:19.7	Language, the English language. Because today we're going to be talking about
0:24.3	languages. It's like the ultimate coincidence talking about languages on a language podcast.
0:29.7	Rory, how many languages do we have in our world? Do you know? I'm reading a book now about
0:35.1	the development of human society and that number was in there.
0:39.0	So, I think it's, is it not something like 6,000?
0:43.3	7,000, Roy.
0:44.8	Oh, wow, that's amazing.
0:46.8	So according to Google, the listener, okay, we believe everything Google says,
0:51.6	there are 7,117,117 known languages spoken by people.
0:58.0	Oh, let's talk about languages.
1:05.1	What foreign languages have you studied?
1:08.0	Well, we learned French in school, and I've been studying Russian for eight years,
1:12.4	and Turkish for just a few months now. Oh, I also learned Swedish when I lived there. I nearly forgot
1:18.2	about that one. How did you learn those languages? To be honest, my French was more about resisting
1:23.8	the teacher and messing around, but there was a lot of book learning, so it wasn't very engaging anyway.
1:30.3	For Swedish, we had speaking classes, and for Russian I used dual lingual and classes and just living in Russia to pick things up.
1:38.3	My Turkish is only learned via duolingo with the occasional fragmented conversation.
1:46.0	Would you like to learn any foreign language?
