Hello and welcome to this episode of Kennedy Saves the World.

Well, we're all moving back to the Shire.

We're all going analog.

We're done with digital, except for all the places that you procure this very podcast.

Kids are going back to landlines.

It is a little bit of a trend.

We had seen a lot of parents and their kids moving away from smartphones because the

social and mental fallout from a generation of kids completely wired has been

too much for parents and families to bear. We've seen mental health issues skyrocket, suicide

attempts, unfortunately suicides, ER visits, all of that stuff, we thought was kind of

just related to the pandemic, but the pandemic combined with isolation, social media,

and access to too much for kids, has left a lot of them in a state that feels like it is beyond repair.

And it's frightening and it's sad and it's heartbreaking for parents.

So they're doing whatever they can along with their kids to find solutions.

And one of them is the novelty of an actual landline with a hardwired phone

with a handset that you have to pick up that doesn't include FaceTime, which can be great.

Because having to be seen all the time, it is in its own way anxiety provoking. So I think this is actually a good thing.

Should all of us throw away our smartphones? No, we rely on them too much. If you get into an elevator

and you look around, every single person on the elevator is on a smartphone. And these are

adults. Adults are just as addicted to their devices

as kids, which is probably one of the reasons why, especially parents my age, with kids,

our age, we gave them phones and access way, way too young, even with all the safeguards in place.
