Good evening once again. I'm Stephanie Ruhl. Did you hear that open? We've got a lot of questions to answer tonight. We're 277 days away from the midterms. It has also been 41 days since the Trump administration was legally required to release all of the Epstein files, and you know and I know,

we're still waiting. Tonight, Donald Trump has also blessed a tentative deal with Senate Democrats

that could head off a partial government shutdown tomorrow at midnight. The deal would fund the

government, but it would only fund the Department of Homeland Security for two short weeks.

Senators have been on the floor tonight trying to hash it out. Democrats made it abundantly clear

that they would not sign off on long-term funding for the agency that is responsible for

carrying out Donald Trump's immigration crackdown. The deal between Trump and Chuck Schumer

would let Democrats continue to negotiate terms on more money for DHS over the coming days.

Now the question is will the Senate and the House both pass it and if so, how quickly can they get it done?

Earlier today, we saw something we have seen several times during the second Trump term.

A publicly televised cabinet meeting featuring the president's

top aides that were flattering him over and over on camera for all the world to see.

But there were some key things, I want to underline them for you, that we did not see.
